Great Basin National Park

<p>What an extraordinary place. G B N P contains the following habitats. Salt desert, sagebrush grasslands, alpine, mountain mixed conifer, mountain stream and pinon-juniper woodlands. The scenic drive to the Wheeler Peak viewpoint opened today and I drove to the top 10,000 ft elevation. The view of the peak and back down into the valley was amazing. I had to drive up and down three long valleys and over two mountain passes to get there.
All definitely worthwhile. I was also surprised to find that Nevada is not just sandy desert. The mountains and sagebrush are all over Northern Nevada.

  1. Jean...I am back home to my wooded environment, the beach at Hendrick's Head, and squirrels in my backyard. My trip from Denver was quite uneventful so I slept on the back seat. That guy who lived with me for awhile did not come.
Today I read all of your posts and it sounds like you are having a good second lap of your trip. I promise if you get a new suburban I will travel with you on your next journey. Keep the picts and posts coming.
